Help At Home is a Nanny Training and Placement agency that is in its 5th yr of operation (we started in mid 2007). We have an excellent reputation, and in this time, we have trained over 1800 ladies, and placed approximately 900 ladies in employment. I am the founder and owner of the company, and although we do have several staff now – and are beginning to expand to other areas/provinces, it is still primarily owner-managed and run, ensuring that we try to maintain the level of personal service we have had since Help At Home’s inception. Our overall success rate in placing nannies is high (a visit to our Testimonials on our website is proof thereof), and we endeavor to provide ON-GOING support to our clients, meaning that, in months and years to come, if you still have a query regarding your nanny, the contract, increases, work relationship, disciplinary action, etc… we are always just a phone call (or email) away for advice. We also have several clients that return to us for further training for their nannies, and if they need more staff. So we try to build a relationship with our clients, and have several that we keep in regular contact with, on a friendly basis.

This means that HELP AT HOME is the domestic Staff agency that can offer you more peace of mind regarding the criminal history of any of your employees.
SERVICES OFFERED
DOMESTIC and NANNY PLACEMENTS:
We are able to place trained nannies and domestic workers (and ladies that can do both tasks – but children will always be first priority). We will need you to please complete and return the client form to us. I will use the info from the form to shortlist some candidates for you, and arrange for you to meet them. All the ladies that we place will have already completed the Help At Home Child minder Course. Upon your selection of a lady, we will make the job offer on your behalf to her. The placement fee becomes payable upon acceptance of employment. Our placement fee is R2200 (which includes the training and placement) and includes a 30-day period where if you are not happy with the employee, we will undertake to replace the employee for you. The probation/replacement period can be extended to 90 days, and the placement fee is then increased from R2200 to R2500. We will supply you with employment contracts, UIF documentation, feeding and medicine charts we have taught her to use etc... Part time ladies are also available for both nanny and domestic work, and placement fees for part timers vary from R1250 (for ladies working 1-2 days per week) to R2500 (ladies working 3 or more days per week).
We have also recently added the following innovations to our Nanny Placement offering:
- ALL placements done by Help At Home will include a Fingerprint based Criminal Clearance at no additional cost. One check is provided free per client, and should the client replace the chosen candidate in the replacement/probation period, any further checks on new candidates will be at an additional cost. However, in the highly unlikely event that the first candidate does have a criminal record, Help At Home will replace the candidate, and provide a new Criminal Clearance Check on the new candidate, at no extra cost to our client.
- While stock last… New stock will arrive early in 2012…Each client that we place a nanny with will receive a complimentary Nanny Notebook (valued at R150) which is a keep-sake book which also serves as a communication tool between Mother and Nanny. It is compact enough to fit into your nappy bag (so it will always be with Nanny, Mom, Dad, Granny or anyone else caring for baby). There is a page for each day where Nanny will record activities with baby throughout the day (i.e how much and when baby drank, sleep times, nappy changes, play activities, shopping lists etc), there is also a section for Mom to update baby’s routine as it changes. Another section holds all necessary contact information nanny may need, for parents, grand-parents, doctors, medical aid details etc… And the last section of the book contains step-by-step first aid and CPR – so that even though nanny is trained, she will have her notes with her at all times.
If you would like Help at Home to assist you in finding a suitable nanny or domestic, please complete the attached Client Form, which will give us all the info we need about your requirements (if there is any info you feel is not on the form, please add it in the comment section – the more info we have, the better). We will then do our utmost to match ladies we have trained, interviewed, and chosen for our books to your requirements, and arrange interviews for you. Please bear in mind that we do not strive to train and place as many people as possible, rather we offer training to anyone who wants to better themselves, but we select which candidates we add to our books, and place them (based on their performance on the course, personality, experience and most of all, their potential as nannies). We often have more clients than nannies, as we choose to place only the best candidates available at any given time – if we do not have someone on book immediately meeting your requirements, we will tell you, and we will do our best to source the right person for you. The quality of the candidate outweighs the quantity of placements we do – we place the ladies in good faith, doing our utmost to place the best lady possible.
NANNY TRAINING AND AVAILABLE COURSES
Help At Home currently offers two courses:
The HELP AT HOME Childcare Course for Childminders (ALL LADIES WE PLACE IN WORK WITH OUR CLIENTS HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED THIS COURSE):
The course content includes all the physical aspects of caring for a child (for example but not limited to: Changing nappies, bottle washing and sterilizing, burping a baby, sleep routines, bathing, baby massage, basic mental stimulation, CPR, First Aid, Choking rescue, toddler care, Potty Training, Safety in the home, etc…).
We run the course every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The candidate will need to attend all three days. On the final day there is an exam (which is 40%written and 60% practical). The cost of the course is R1200, and includes training, manual, lunch (tea and sandwiches), exam, laminated certificate upon completion. Please note that ladies placed by Help At Home have already completed this training upon placement, and do not need to retrain.
The HELP AT HOME Mental Stimulation Course for Nannies:
This course covers mental and emotional development of children from birth to 6 years including milestones, and development per milestone (cognitive, speech, etc…) as well as teaching your nanny games and ideas for making toys for the baby.
The course is run over a period of 4 weeks, where your nanny will attend one afternoon a week. Because the course is divided into four modules, your nanny can commence training any week, and will not miss out on any work. The cost of the course is R1200, and includes training, manual, refreshments, laminated certificate upon completion.
Clients sending their nannies to complete both our courses will receive a discount, paying only R2000 for both courses - a discount of R400.
FINGERPRINT-BASED CRIMINAL CLEARANCE WITHIN 48HOURS
Up to now, the only criminal clearance any agency could offer was ID-based – which due to ID-fraud etc… have been proven to be only 20-30% accurate. The agencies have also charged a separate fee for this service.
These criminal checks (ID-based) only cater for people with South African Identities. The only effective criminal clearance check is a fingerprint based check, which will reveal any criminal conviction in SA, whether the person being checked is South African, or from any other country!
Help At Home has acquired the equipment, rights and training to do fingerprint-based Criminal Clearance checks, which are fed directly to the S.A.P.S, which will reveal if the person fingerprinted has any criminal convictions within South Africa. Help At Home currently has the exclusive rights to do this in the Domestic Staff sector. So, we are the FIRST, and ONLY agency that can now offer you this service. A fingerprint-based Criminal Clearance will reveal if the person, whether they are LOCAL OR FOREIGNERS have had any criminal convictions in South Africa. The cost for this service is R285 (incl vat). We are also able to travel to you to perform the checks, but an added travel cost will be charged, dependent on the area.
