Mothers are so busy
taking care of everyone else in the family and they often put themselves
last on the list, or leave themselves off the list altogether! The
role of the mother is extremely important and the whole family relies
heavily on moms and therefore they need to take special care of
themselves and accept help from others as well. No mother is a superwoman
and there is no need to try to be a superwoman. Remember it is who
you are and not always what you do that make you a fantastic mother.
It is especially true in our modern society where most mothers have
to follow a profesional career to contribute to the families income,
that mothers have to deal with more stress than neccesary. Mothers
sit in traffic, work a full day, get home and prepare food, give
attention to the children which includes homework, emotional problems
and many more and then they spend some time with their husbands
and after all this there is no time left to themselves. And the
sad part is that this is reality in most families. A sure sign of
stress is when you start yelling at everyone. If you are anxious,
wound up and irritable it is time to take a break!
Here are some helpful tips to make you feel better about yourself
again.
> Body Care: It is important to eat right,
get enough sleep and take good care of yourself and this way you
will notice that you have greater levels of energy, lower levels
of stress and you will feel good about yourself. You deserve to
feel good about yourself and to pamper yourself!
Enough sleep is vital for you health and productivity. It is true
that your circumstances do not always allow you the luxury of enough
sleep (especially when our children are still small) and we can
not always control our circumstances but we can control how well
be take care of ourselves with the time we do have to ourselves.
Sleep is very important for your emotional and physical wellbeing
and a lack of sleep can negatively impact your ability to handle
stress. And remember that exercise is good for you. You can exercise
together with your children and this can be a lot of fun and a good
way to bond with your children.
Every mother deserves to pamper themselves but they do not always
have the time or the budget to go to a professional spa. Personal
pampering is just as rewarding and has many stress relieving benefits.
You can create a relaxing home spa experience for yourself and all
you need is some privacy, music, lighting, bath products and beauty
treatments. You will be surprised when you realise that you have
all these items in your house already!
Take some time out. Ask you husband or partner to take care of
the children for an hour or two once a week and discuss it with
the family that this is your time alone and that you do not want
to be desturbed. Lock the bathroom door and swith your phone off
to make sure there will be no interruptions.
Play some relaxing music in the background, dim the lights or light
some candles and switch the lights off altogether to create a soft
and relaxed atmosphere. Run the bath water and add some bath salt
or bubble bath to add the magical touch to the experience. You can
also add a skin-moisurising oil to the bath to nourish your skin
and make the pampered feeling last. Use some body scrub to exfoliate
your skin. Use some conditioning treatment in you hair and a purifying
masque on your face. After you had a bath experience fit for a queen,
rub some conditioning cream on your skin and add a coat of nail
polish to your toes to add the final touch.
> Learn to say NO: There are only 24 hours
in a day, and if your schedule does not allow time for extra tasks
then simply say no. You do not need to apologize for setting limits.
It does not matter if other mothers bake cup cakes for the school
or attend all the school functions, it does not make you a bad mother
if you can not do all of this. You do not have to compare yourself
to anyone at any time. If you are asked to do something and you
feel uncomfortable to say no at that specific time simply say that
you will think about it and get back to them. |
